Veterinary Surgeon

Úna O' Toole

Úna qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from UCD in 2009. After qualifying Úna worked in small animal practice in Dublin for 7 years. In 2016 needing a new challenge she took the role of Head of Veterinary Services with The Irish Blue Cross, managing a large team of Vets, Nurses, Receptionists and Volunteers. After spending 6 very happy years with The Irish Blue Cross Úna was ready for another new challenge! Having always had a love and passion for animals, opening a Veterinary Clinic that aimed to provide the best possible patient care and customer service was something she always wanted to do. Her motto when treating pets is “treat each pet as if they were your own and each pet owner like your own family”. Úna loves all aspect of veterinary but particularly enjoys carrying out soft tissue surgery and abdominal ultrasounds.

Úna has 2 rescue dogs, Polly and Pepper, who can sometimes be seen helping with the cleaning in the clinic when they’re not breaking into the treats stash! In her spare time Úna enjoys exercising, watching sports and listening to music and if she has a couple of days off she loves to get away to the sun and the great food in Spain!

Veterinary Nursing

Liane

Liane’s love of animals started at a young age with her family labradors and rabbits. Liane graduated from Veterinary Nursing LYIT in 2013. After graduation she moved to Australia for some sun and sea whilst working in the RSPCA Veterinary Hospital in Sydney. This is where she found her passion for surgery and anaesthesia which she has carried with her ever since!

Returning home in 2016 Liane went to work at The Irish Blue Cross until the end of 2022. She enjoyed using her skills to provide an exceptional standard of nursing care within a charity setting. In 2018 Liane completed her Diploma of Clinical Veterinary Nursing followed by a Diploma of Advanced Veterinary Nursing in 2019. In recent years Liane has spent time working with an orthopaedic surgeon where she gained valuable skills and experience in surgical nursing. Liane enjoys training veterinary nurse student on their work placements and has presented a number of lectures for Veterinary Nursing courses. She was delighted to present a lecture at the Irish Veterinary Nursing Association Congress in 2022 – a career high!

In her spare time Liane is likely to be found somewhere up the Dublin Mountains with her dogs Oscar and Jake, her cats Smudge and Vincent and her pig Dotty!
